    Simple…a classic.
This sounds funny, but a local doctor sung this to one of his young patients to keep her calm while he stitched her up from a bad accident. She still remembers and that was several years ago. Love small communities!

It is a beautiful song! At my wedding, the congregation sang a benediction to the tune. The words go like this:

    May the Lord, mighty God,
    Bless and keep you forever,
    Grant you peace, perfect peace,
    Courage in every endeavor.

Lift your eyes and see His face,
    And His grace forever.
    May the Lord, mighty God,
    Bless and keep you forever.

I have extremely fond memories of this event, but I later found out that Rodgers (and now his estate) would not allow alternative lyrics to be used with the tune!

    Hello Dr. John,

What a pleasure to hear and be able to begin to practice such a beautiful piece.  Being rather easy, I’ll show off with this one for a while.   Am adding this to my daily practice to get in more G and D string sounds.   The Suzuki method almost wore out my A and E strings am I’m delighted to be able to practice “grown up” music now with tabulature.   Try to get in a few attempts at Ashoken Farewell, I’ll Fly Away and Boil them Cabbage with every session as well as the Norwegian song that you so kindly found for me.

WONDERFUL SONG!   Can really practice my vibrato on this one,  I think.    Thank you for providing us with such marvelous stuff with tabulature and I’m trying to translate it back to notes on my own for practice in note reading.  Thoroughly enjoying these lessons!
