Once you have a Mandolin Tef file loaded, it it rather easy to convert it to a Fiddle tab similar to what John uses in his lessons. Here are the steps:
1. Click on the instrument name in the upper right of the screen. It will normally be something like “Guitar Standard”, “Mandolin”, etc. This will open a small window with the instrument name in the title bar.
1. Select the “Module” tab.
Enter “Fiddle” in the “Instrument Name” text box.
At the bottom of the window, click the MIDI instrument drop-down, and scroll down to either “Violin” or “Fiddle”. Make sure Fiddle starts with a capital “F”
Click the “Apply” button
3. Select the “Tuning” tab.
Click the drop-down at the top of the window and select “Mandolin GDAE”
Click the “Apply” button, then close the window.
You should now see the tablature converted to Fiddle tablature notation. If you click the “Play” button, it will sound similar to a fiddle.
