Everytime I come back to Bluegrass Daddy and try to learn some new Fiddle songs, I learn great history lessons from you John!!  I find it interesting how relevant these traditonal songs can still be in contemporary music.   It took me a few minutes to figure out why this sounded so familiar to me but then I realized this is the melody for Rod Stewart’s “Rhythm of my heart”!!

Thanks a lot for the help guys.   I’ve been working on this for a while now.  Wow-Sequel 1 looks to be even harder than I initially thought!!

I have always been hesitant to try cross tuning because I was afraid it would mess me up when I went back to standard tuning.   That being said, I had an extra fiddle and crossed tuned it today for this song which I had previously given the old college try in standard tuning but played it in A.  Playing it in A was really hard to get the smooth sound that cross tuning allows on the lower strings.   What a great song and lesson!!  John you are an absolute beast on the fiddle!!  Cross tuning is totally worth it for this song!!
