Hey John, growing pains suck, but; to those who have everything more will be give, and to those who have nothing everything will be taken is true from gravity to fiddle sites. Good luck with upgrading.
Steve that’s a really nice story, if anything is worth having it’s a good memory from your dad and to be able to play it and get some sweet music out of it, that is beautiful my friend. Tyler
Hi John, the guy that sold it to me said it may be real or a real fake. But either one is enough for what I want with it and what I paid for it, because it has a solid structure and it sounds really nice. But I like to think about the possibilities of how old and where it came from. Also, people have said that some of the fakes are really well-built instruments as well and that’s what my billfold chooses to believe.
The only reason I pointed out that the neck was a little different is that the neck doesn’t overlap the body on top and the guy that sold it said that that was the way they were made pre 1840s but I’m sure they can be duplicated, if I know anything about ppl. but I’m happy with it because it smells old sounds good and feels fine. Oh and when I look closer it is a ‘hopf’ and I see the letters eut just below that. Thanks
I tried to upload images but I can’t see them. It says ‘hope’ or something on the back just below the neck.
I found an old fiddle in pretty clean shape what can you guys tell me about it. The back of the neck is worn off like somebody removed the varnish and where the neck meets the body it’s built a little different. Thanks
Peace of a freed prisoner is yours, live your life accordingly. Cheers
I am most interested in seeing this lesson in standard tuning. It’s one of the songs I heard that inspired to to play. Thank you.
Fist bump emoji. That was pretty kewl.
I can’t open the sheet music in the apron tuning.

Great post Scott. I was just going to ask about something like this. I thing you need to get those whiskers under control there. haha
Great job on one outside the box. Music for what it’s intended to be. nice job on the vocals and fun to play. The Hag was underrated, he hits that heart string that few can.March 17, 2016 at 7:54 PM in reply to: John, in case you run out of things to do it get bored #34422

John I think you are doing a great job with the site and all. One small thing I would like to request is I wonder if you could put scales and cords on your sheet music tab so we can print it out and practice. Thanks.
