"I Can Only Imagine" (sometimes shortened to "Imagine") is a single recorded by Christian rock band MercyMe. Written and composed by Bart Millard, the song, based around a main piano track, was inspired by the death of Millard's father and considers what it would be like in Heaven and to be standing before God.

I Can Only Imagine

I can only imagine What it will be like
When I walk By your side
I can only imagine What my eyes will see
When your face Is before me
I can only imagine, I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine, I can only imagine

I can only imagine When that day comes
And I find myself Standing in the Son
I can only imagine When all I will do
Is forever Forever worship You
I can only imagine, I can only imagine

REPEAT CHORUS 2x

When all I will do
Is forever Forever worship You,
I can only imagine

I can only imagine, I can only imagine
I will sing for you, I will dance for you
I can only imagine, I will worship you

I have never heard this one.  John how very beautiful!  You did a wonderful job singing it – the feelings behind it are plain for everyone to hear.  I love this one!!!!!

Thanks! This was a requested tune. I’d heard it before by Mercy Me, but until Steve requested it, I’d never heard the Emmerson Drive version with the fiddle on it.
