This version of Kentucky Waltz was taken from Bill Monroe's 1946 Columbia recording. I'm pretty sure that Chubby Wise is playing the fiddle. Monroe wrote the song about ten years before, but it became a hit after this recording with a new group of Bluegrass Boys.
Kentucky Waltz

We were waltzing that night in Kentucky

Beneath the beautiful harvest moon
And I was the boy who was lucky

But it all ended too soon
As I sit here alone in the moonlight

I can see your smiling face
Gm D Bm
And I long once more for your embrace

And the beautiful Kentucky waltz
