Norman Wilson of the Primitive Quartet dies
On Wednesday, October 15, Norman Wilson went to be with his Lord. Norman was the mandolin player and tenor singer of the North Carolina - based Primitive Quartet. The Primitives have been a mainstay of Bluegrass Gospel music for as long as I can remember, and were an early inspiration for me and my family. I first met Norman around 25 years ago, and we have shared the stage with the Primitives dozens of times. Norman once lived in our community, and would often ask me how things were down on "Molly's Backbone Road." I will miss his smiling face and cheerful outlook, and most of all his music and his testimony. Norman passed in his sleep of apparent heart failure, peacefully and with a smile on his face. Thank you, Norman, for all the wonderful music and memories.
