Margaret's Waltz is an English fiddle tune. It was written by Pat Shaw on the retirement of Margaret Grant as president from the Devon EFDSS (English Folk Dance and Song Society) in 1959 and performed at the Sidmouth Folk Festival. A dance was also composed in 1959 to accompany the tune. Aly Bain made it famous through a Boys of the Lough recording hence the reason why it is often thought of as from Shetland. The song became popular in Old Time circles due to the play of the late J. P. Fraley, a Kentucky fiddler who learned the song from Aly Bain. (tunearch.org)
